IN THIS LESSON

We don’t see what we think we see. I learned this drawing cats’ ears.

The modern portrait methods encompass many styles, and use many non-traditional materials. We will examine some artists whom you may know, and some you may not, and discuss what you like in a portrait and what it should contain. Using ourselves as models, we will make rapid sketches and pick a favourite material from last week to see what we can create. Sometimes the really quick drawing is the best, since we exaggerate the things we notice - which works in a portrait. We will learn from eachother, too. We will look at examples, work through exercises and create our own observational work to finish the lesson.
