IN THIS LESSON
We don’t see what we think we see. I learned this drawing cats’ ears.
Observational drawing is guided in the old fashioned way using squares, a grid. Even JMW Turner and van Gogh used them, setting up physical grids to draw through. This helps to measure relative sizes. We can do an upside-down drawing exercise to remove the analytical from the observational (as they are two different sides of your brain). We will look at examples, work through exercises and create our own observational work to finish the lesson.
