IN THIS LESSON

Watercolour on glass or acetate sheet.

A fascinating process, starting with a smooth surface that you paint on, then taking a monoprint on damp paper. Every image is a surprise. Washing up liquid (a very thin layer) can be used as a base on your smooth surface, so that the paint does not bead. Then you paint, and then put the paper on. Good printer paper works, and rice paper is cheap, while every experiment is there to learn from. Paint, print, enjoy. Repaint - for a different image, and continue. The best artists love printing so we’ll look at some of their work.
