Helen Imogen Field, Artist
Before - classical and digital work, oils & iPad - ImogenArt.
365 drawings later - subconscious right brain + a drive to tell stories = expression. Multiple media, incorporating drawing for surprising artworks.
Attention, observation and imagination with memory and peripheral vision for a wholesome selection of theme.
Art Students League of New York to Leith School of Arts in Edinburgh and the Royal Drawing School, London… so many sketchbooks filled.
When a drawing becomes an object or morphs into a movie - ceramics with Potter Around - theatrical media.
Drawing and creating, especially without planning, results in a quest, a map, an exploration. The Response of the viewer (including the artist) is to connect and somewhat promote understanding.
PORTFOLIOS
Helen Imogen is an artist exploring ideas with different media. Her background is strongly scientific and information rich, with a foundation in the Christian Bible and diversifying into social services with counselling. Telling stories through single or multiple pictures, drawing on the work of many artists and practitioners, is the latest thread of her long artistic legacy. Her art practice was richly oil painterly, moved into sketching everywhere on iPad and then with sharp tools on ceramics - always drawing. Now she also prints, and always carries a sketchbook for ideas.
