A day at Histon Manor
A Plein Air painting prize in Cambridgeshire allowed about a hundred artists to put their practice onto canvas in the open air, on Saturday 13th June this year. My first time, and I tested out acrylics in full sun - they dry quickly so I could work on some loose paintings. I had a lesson about abstract landscape (with Sara Roberts, at the Royal Drawing School), where we were asked to paint like Hodgkin. While his work is hard to match - of course - it is fun to condense things to a few elements. My usual scribbles appeared so I produced four works that are loose and well marked, and can be viewed here: if you want to see all the works produced that day, please check out this link.
